Obituary – Wilma Deen Mills Bowling Green, Florida (Jackson, Michigan) - Wilma Deen (Cook) Mills stepped through heaven’s gates to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 19 at Somers Hospice House in Sebring, Florida. Wilma was born on July 23, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of William and Juanita (Bitely) Cook. On August 6, 1994, Wilma married the love of her life, Robert Mills at the Faith Baptist Church in Jackson, Michigan. They shared 29 wonderful years together. Wilma was employed in several clerical positions with B and W Drywall, B and B Heating, and as a dispatcher for Fuller Heating. Wilma enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, swimming, playing numerous games, going to beaches walking barefoot in the sand and water, and enjoyed storm chasing. Wilma is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter Nita (David) Lewis; step-children: Debbie (Jeff Phebus) Mills and Chad Mills; her fur baby: Lucky Lady; sister-in-laws: Ceil Mills and Betty Chaffee, nieces: Sue Young, Rose Shoephoerster and Luanne Cannon and Lisa Dietz; nephews: Tony Young, Terry Barber, Bill Barber and Rick Barber; grandchildren: Bobbi Burson, John Burson, Josie Berry, Kyle Lewis and Kandi Lewis and 6 great-grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Onnalee Barber and a brother: Wallace Chaffee. Wilma and Bob resided in Greenwood Acres Family Campgrounds in Jackson for approximately 10 years enjoying many friends and activities. They wintered at Orange Blossom RV Park in Bowling Green, Florida for the past10 years, participating in many activities and events throughout the park, including Chapel Services, Bible Studies, Euchre, Cribbage, Bunco, Sticks, Shuffle Board, an annual Taco Dinner and Charter Trips. When a park activity wasn’t scheduled, Wilma and Bob frequently hosted many events in their home including game nights, seafood potlucks, and fish fries. There was never an individual that Wilma met that didn’t become a friend…she was a friend to all! A Celebration of Life service honoring Wilma has been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 7, 2023, at the Orange Blossom Chapel with Pastor Randy Ernst officiating. Those wishing to donate in Wilma’s memory are asked to consider donations made payable to the Orange Blossom RV Park Chapel. The family wishes to thank the Somers Hospice House for their excellent care while Wilma resided in the facility. A celebration of Life service will be held in Jackson, Michigan in June 2024. Robarts Funeral Home in Wauchula is serving the needs of the family.
