Dolores “Dee” Oliver Davis “Dee” age 86 of Largo, Florida and formally of Decatur, Ill went home to be with the Lord, Friday, October 14, 2016 surrounded by her children, their spouses and family. Dee was a CNA, LPN and worked for Hilltop Research of St. Petersburg, FL and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pinellas Park, Florida. She was called by many names, Dee, Dee-Dee, Dolores, mom, mama, grandma, YiaYia…but most of all she was called blessed! It was her love of faith, family and friends that was a never-ending source of strength and power in her life. Married at the end of World War II to the love of her life Jim Davis, a love story began that lasted 69 years and stood the test of time through plenty and want, health and sickness, success and failure…through it all the one thing that never diminished was love! Dee excelled in being a loving caregiver for her family always going the extra mile to take care of her husband and 5 children. As her family grew over the years so did her capacity to love. One of her passions next to her faith and family was baking, especially cookies for every family event and holiday. Her specialty was “Old-Fashioned Iced Sugar Cookies” a family treasured treat from a recipe passed on from her mother. Dee’s life touched so many others it hard to include them all…for her family the only word is blessed! She is preceded in death by James J. Davis, Husband of 69 years, Arthur and Freda Oliver (Parents), Anne Coppenbarger (Sister), Rosemary Price (Sister). She is survived by her 5 children, James (Carol) Davis of Clearwater, Rev. Tim (Eleanor) Davis of Wauchula, Rick (Juli) Davis of Seminole, Melody (Doug) Calibey of Largo and Marty Davis of Largo, Janis Young (Sister), Mattoon, Ill, Thomas (Carla) Oliver (Brother), Decatur, Ill, Betty (Paul) Barnes (Sister-In-Law), Decatur, Ill, many nieces and nephews. 10 grandchildren, James (Amanda) Davis of Tarpon Springs, Mark Davis of Seminole, Laura (Patrick) O’Neil of Stuart, John (Brittany) of Seminole, Justin and Jared Davis of Wauchula, Joshua Calibey of Pinellas Park, Robert Calibey of St. Petersburg, Kaylee and Brian Wheeler of Largo. 3 great grandchildren, Lilly Belle Osborne of Largo, Elliot James Davis of Seminole and Reilly James Davis of Tarpon Springs, FL. A Celebration of Life service will be held October 29, 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of Pinellas Park – 5495 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park Florida 33876. The family will receive friends at a “Cookie” Reception following the service. Interment will be Monday, October 31, 10:00am, Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL.
