Robert George Barrere

Robert George Barrere, 83, went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2021, in Sarasota, FL. Bob was born on April 27, 1938, in the Bronx, New York. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend. Bob had a passion for life and enjoyed many hobbies over the years including fishing, snow skiing, and traveling among many other interests. He loved organizing and leading trips, hosting get-togethers, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed a successful and rewarding 35-year career with the phone company. He inspired others with his generosity, tenacity, and willingness to always help others. Bob was very active in the church over the years, serving in many roles, and lived a life of strong faith and service. His positive attitude and sense of humor will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Cook Barrere, sons Bobby Barrere and Brian Barrere; granddaughters Jackie McWhirter, Brittany Zoller, Veronica Barrere, Samantha Barrere, and Molly Barrere; grandsons Robbie Barrere, Zachary Barrere, Ben Barrere, Sam Barrere, and Tommy Barrere; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Robarts Garden Chapel on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 1:00 PM followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. Reverend and cousin Benny Tart will officiate.
