Barbara Staton, a lifelong resident of Hardee County, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was born on December 5, 1941, in Tampa, Florida, to Robert E. Hill and Eva Hill. Barbara was a devoted Christian and a loving caregiver to her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Staton, her son Charles Staton, her daughter Juanita Staton, and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Cindi Smith (Justin) of Wauchula, Florida; her son Dale Staton of Wauchula, Florida; sisters Rosie Cox and Dorothy Butler; brother Bobby Hill; grandchildren Zackary Smith, Blake Smith, Heidi Smith, Jagger Smith, Brandy Selph (Robert), Chris Miller, and Wade Staton; and great-grandchildren Ryan Selph, Ayden Selph, Jayce Selph, and Myles Selph. She is also survived by her cousin/like a daughter Sherry Grimsley (Jerry). A funeral service will be held at Gateway Church in Bowling Green on May 18th at 11:00, with Pastor Charles Thompson officiating. Interment will take place at Wauchula Cemetery. Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her caring nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
