Betty Lavinia Chavis, 79, of Bartow, Fl. passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 in Bartow, Fl. She was born on February 2, 1942 in Hazlehurst, Ga. Betty was resident of Bartow since 2004 coming from Hardee county where she spent most of her life. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church in Bartow, Fl. She worked in elderly care as a caregiver. She is preceded in death by her parents Jonny and Viola Thompson Sellers and her Husband George Chavis. She is survived by Sons Alvin Chavis of Bartow, Fl., James Chavis of Bartow, Fl., Jimmy Chavis (Jennifer) of Texas, George Chavis of Texas, Daughters Lawanda Zglinicki (Charles) of Crossville, Tn.; Carrie Frederick (J.B.) of Bartow, Fl. Brother Billy Sellers of Zolfo Springs, Fl. Sisters Wanda Murphy of Wauchula, Fl; Mollie Purington of St. Augustine, Fl. Grandchildren Amanda Pacheco, Keith Frederick, Nicole Jones, James Chavis, James Zglinicki, Cheyanne Zglinicki, Daniel Zglinicki, Clinton Zglinicki, Kelly Chavis, Caleb Chavis. Great Grandchildren Evey Pacheco, Caitlin Jones, Austin Jones, Kasie Starnes, Hayvin Starnes, and Cory Starnes.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Robarts Garden Chapel with funeral Services to begin at 11:00. Internment will take place at Wauchula Cemetery. Reverend Howard Howze will be officiating services.
