Betty Jane Washburn, 87, of Arcadia, passed away at Charlotte Regional Medical Center on September 20, 2012. She was born on March 20, 1925 in Farrell, Pennsylvania. She moved to DeSoto County from Pennsylvania in 1994. Betty was a member of the Fort Ogden Baptist Church and had been employed as a calibrator with Bliely Electric. She was also a teachers aide and worked school buses for the DeSoto County School Board.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy J. Washburn. Survivors include her husband, James Washburn of Arcadia; three sons, James D. Washburn and Jay R. Washburn, both of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Jeff Washburn of Lebanon, Tennessee; one daughter, Judith Ann Gaadt of Erie, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Marge Brown of Ashland City, Tennessee, and Issabell Malda of Bloomingdale, New Jersey; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Erie, Pennsylvania.
