Charles "Eddie" Kennedy, 78, of Bowling Green, died on Friday, January 28, 2011 at home. Born on August 17, 1932 in St. Petersburg, Fla., he had been a resident of Hardee County most of his life. He was a member of Fort Green Baptist Church.
Eddie served as pastor at Union Baptist in Lily, Northside Baptist in Tampa, Carters Corner Baptist in Lakeland, Lakeview Baptist in Clearwater, First Baptist in Polk City, Immanuel Baptist in Bowling Green and as interim pastor at Fort Green Baptist. He was also employed as an associate at Curry Raley Funeral Home for 15 years and at Robarts Family Funeral Home for a short time.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Kennedy; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jeannie of Sebring, Johnny Ray and Diane of Dover, Dale and Susan of Duette, and Robert and Joann of Dover; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Robarts Garden Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Green Baptist Church with burial in Fort Green Methodist Cemetery.
