Dorothy "Dottie" Abbey, 78, of Zolfo Springs, died at her home on Sunday, April 28, 2019. She was born on April 5, 1941 in Searsmont, Maine and had lived in Hardee County since 1972, moving from Monticello, New York. She was an active member of Florida's First Assembly of God in Wauchula and had worked at Zolfo Springs Elementary for 14 years, in food service.

Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Abbey. Survivors include one son, Scott Nutter of Sebring; three daughters, Starr Richey of Wauchula, Pamela Dillon of Tampa, and Patricia Bagley of Fort Meade; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 4 PM at Robarts Garden Chapel with Rev. Barry Taylor officiating. Visitation is from 3-4 PM. Interment is in Bowling Green Cemetery.
