Elena C. Mendoza, 86, of Zolfo Springs, passed away at Hardee Manor on February 26, 2013. Mrs. Mendoza was born in Robertsdale, Texas on August 17, 1926. She came to Hardee County from Immokalee, Florida in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Florida's First Assembly of God.
Survivors include four sons, Nicholas Mendoza, Jr. and wife Mary T., Oscar Mendoza, Sr. and wife Dora, Robert Lee Mendoza, and George Mendoza, Sr. and wife Elsa, all of Zolfo Springs; six daughters, Lydia Garcia and husband Andres, and Ida Mendoza, all of Wauchula, Maria Leyva and husband Ermando, Elsa Mendoza and husband Seledoino, and Sylvia Mendoza, all of Zolfo Springs, and Barbara Mendoza and husband Tomas, of Arcadia; one brother, Max Cedillo of Texas; one sister, Mayo Garzo of California; 53 grandchildren, 158 great-grandchildren, and 70 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Florida's First Assembly of God from 3:00-4:00 P.M. Funeral services are at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Jeff Fowler officiating. Interment is in Zolfo Baptist Cemetery.
