Floyd O. Rice Jr, 45, a resident of Hardee and DeSoto counties for most of his life, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home in Wauchula, Fl. He was born in Arcadia, Fl. on January 24, 1974. Floyd was a Christian by faith who prayed and served with many. Floyd graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Ga. and worked as a licensed funeral director in both Hardee and Desoto counties. He enjoyed photography and was a familiar face at all of the local games where he could be found behind the camera. He and his wife Ginger opened their hearts and home to many of the local kids in our community who quickly became extended members of their family. Much joy was brought to him by riding and visiting new places on his motorcycle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Otha Rice Sr. and Barbara Elaine Maddox a brother Donald Robbins and a grandson James Green.

He is survived by loving wife Ginger L. Rice and his sons Floyd Otha Rice III, and Christopher Rice of Wauchula, Fl. his daughters Savannah Giddens of Wauchula, Fl. and Brittany Green of Oklahoma. His brothers John Robbins (Ann) of Arcadia, Fl and Jim Rice (Terri) of Al. His sisters Diana Lynch of Arcadia, Fl.; Trudy Williams (Byron) of Asheville, NC.; Barbara Dubose of Arcadia, Fl.; Valerie Bonett of Arcadia, Fl.; Silvia Sanders, Marie Salmon, Marti McCoy and Sharon Hill of St. Pete, Fl. As well as 5 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at New Zion Baptist Church at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Stephen Darley officiating. Interment is in New Zion Cemetery.
