George Neel, mayor of Zolfo Springs, passed away August 2, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Jerry (Royce) of Henderson, KY, Rev. Steven (Nancy) of Jeffersontown, KY, Roger of Ottawa, Ohio, and Art of Zolfo Springs; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was a retired United Methodist minister; however, he had served the First United Methodist Church in Zolfo Springs since June 2002. He also held different positions with the Florida League of Cities and the Ridge League of Cities, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wauchula.
There will be a visitation at the Zolfo Springs First United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 6th from 10-11 a.m., with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m.
