Helen Lorene Peavy Whiteside, 77, of Zolfo Springs, went to be with our Lord on Nov. 26, 2010. She was born in Atlanta, GA on May 26, 1933 and had been a Hardee County resident since 1950, coming from Fort Myers.
She served as Cub Scout and Webelo's den mother and was a member of the local neighborhood Alert Safety organization. She was a business partner with her husband in Fred's Garage & Wrecker Service for 25 years, and Whiteside Sawmill for 25 years, and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fred B. Whiteside; her children, Sidney L. Whiteside (Linda) of Sebring, Robert B. Whiteside (Jennifer) of Zolfo Springs, and Melody E. Oles (Steven) of Yalaha, FL; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30th at Robarts Garden Chapel from 2-4 p.m., followed by graveside services at Wauchula Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
