Joel Bruce McEachern was born in Miami, Florida on August 12, 1950, and peacefully
passed away, surrounded by love, at home in Eustis, Florida on August 25, 2023. Joel
was predeceased by his loving parents, Thelma Irene and Gabriel Russell McEachern,
and his dear niece Betty Ann McEachern.
He will be missed and remembered by his wife Stacy, son Jason McEachern, brother
and sister-in-law Gary and Susan McEachern, sister, and brother-in-law Debbie and Al
Riddle, niece Alisha Riddle, and cousin Karen Allen along with other family and friends.
A loving man with such a kind soul, Joel led a life guided by integrity and humility,
always showing genuine regard for the world and extraordinary kindness towards
others. Nowhere was this more true than in his endearing love story with Stacy.
As a third-generation native Floridian, his love for the natural world, especially Florida's
fragile environment, was unwavering. Internationally published and widely exhibited,
his natural light photography honored this state's subtle beauty – each image giving
honor and grace to the last wild places he held so dear.
Our heavy hearts are lightened with the hope that Joel will have even better views now
as God's newest photographer. And it is also our hope to have his dream fulfilled –
binding his images in an "honest little book," entitled Picturing Grace, Florida at First
Light.
And one wish from his devoted wife…to keep his spirit forever kindled by spreading
more kindness, laughing more often, and loving a little bit more every day.
A graveside service will be held at the Fort Green Methodist Cemetery in Bowling Green, Florida on
