John J. Spear, 92, of Ona, Fl. passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at The Manor in Sebring, Fl., He was born on October 1,1927 in Springfield, OH. John worked for Florida Power and Light in Sarasota, Fl.; While there he worked from the ground up and was employed by them for 35 years until he retired. His dream was to be a cattleman and after retirement he did just that by moving to Ona and starting his ranch. John was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Lily.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years Janet L. Spear, parents, Elvin L. Spear and Florence B. Spear, son, Jackie Spear, son in law, Mike Hand, daughter in law, Georgia Spear, one brother and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his sons, Jay Spear (Andera) of Sarasota, Fl.; and Jim Spear (Janet) of Tulsa, OK.; daughter, Jody Hand of Ona, Fl.;
5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Graveside service will be held November 2, 2019 at 11:00 am at Union Baptist Cemetery in Lily, Fl.
