Loren Oliver Thomas, 80, of Wauchula, passed away on April 22, 2010 in Tampa. Mr. Thomas was born in Wauchula on March 1, 1930 and had been a Hardee County resident for most of his life. He was a Baptist, had been employed in construction, and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife, Billie Thomas of Wauchula; 5 sons, Loren Thomas Jr., Ricky Dean Thomas, and Micheal Thomas, all of Live Oak, Ricky Lee Owens of Elora, TN and Stanley Eugene Owens of Huntsville, AL; 2 daughters, Becky Lynn of Starke and JoAnn Robinson of TX; 1 brother, George Thomas of Goshen, IN; 1 sister, Veta Mae Whorton of Bristol, TN; 12 grand-grand and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the DeSoto County Honor Guard.
