Obituary

Louise Shirley Cooper, age 97, died at her home in Bowling Green on July 27, 2015. She was born into a large farming family in Daleville, Alabama on November 5, 1917. In 1933, her family moved to Bowling Green, where she married William Troy Cooper on July 8, 1935. From 1942, they lived in Tampa where Louise was active in the Northside Baptist Church. After Troy died in 1974, Louise worked at Maas Brothers department store (now Macy's) until she returned to her old family home in Bowling Green in 2000. There she enjoyed gardening, quilting, and the frequent visits from her family and friends.

Louise touched many lives and was much loved by her large extended family and everyone else who knew her. She was an active, intelligent, independent, and caring woman, whose passing will leave a void which can never be filled.

Louise is survived by her children and their spouses, William and Sara Cooper, Shirley and John Turner, Cathy Fletcher, and Allen and Susan Cooper; three siblings, Annie Laura McKinney, Fanny Spivey, and Charlie Mack Shirley; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green with Rev. Amy Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Bowling Green Cemetery.
