Maria Piedad Gaona, 91, a resident of Hardee county since 1970 coming from Texas, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at her home. Maria was born in Edinburg (San Carlos Ranch) Texas, on April 18, 1929. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Wauchula, Florida.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Rosa Gomez.


Survivors include her sons, Fermin Gaona Jr (Helen) of Zolfo Springs, Fl; Andres Gaona (Sylvia) of Zolfo Springs, Fl; Juan Jose Gaona of Zolfo Springs, Fl; Jesus Gaona of Zolfo Springs, Fl; Reynaldo Gaona of Immokalee, Fl; daughters, Juanita Salazar of Yadkinville, NC; Maria R. Gaona of Zolfo Springs, Fl; Angelita Lazo of Bowling Green, Fl; Maria S. Lopez (Guadalupe) of Americas, GA; Maria P. Lazo (Domingo) of Wauchula, Fl; Martina Martinez (Miguel) of Wauchula, Fl; brothers, Irenio Gomez of Oregon, Primo Gomez of Illinois. As well as 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.


A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Robarts Garden Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 12:00 pm at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Wauchula Cemetery.
