Melvin Fairfield Jr., born January 15, 1957, passed away January 18, 2026, in Highlands County, Florida.

A longtime resident of Hardee County since 1982 after moving from Lebanon, Indiana, Melvin worked as a truck driver for 30 years. He was a faithful listener to the radio sermons of Faith Temple Church and took great pride in his large, loving family. His hobbies included fishing, driving trucks, cooking out, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin J. Fairfield and Shirley Johns Fairfield, and by his son, Jack Michael.

He is survived by, Rosie, of 43 years; his children Chris (Jessica) Fairfield of Wauchula, FL; Devin (Sam) Fairfield of Bradley Junction, FL; Melvina (Tim) Devine of Lebanon, IN; Tyler (Heather) Fairfield of Wauchula, FL; Pam (Ricky) Sandoval of Fort Green, FL; MJ Fairfield of Indiana; and Aaron Fuston of Wauchula, FL. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Connor, Ryan, Bryan, Savannah, Kalie, Joseph (Tabitha), Josh (Jessica), Andrew (Samantha), and Zackery; great-grandchildren Mae, Evan, Riley, Oliver, London, Hardin, Cohen, Branson, and Abigail. Siblings Mark (Joyce) of Tipton, Indiana, Donnie Fairfield of Lebanon, Indiana, and Tammy Fairfield Ballard of Lebanon, Indiana.

A visitation will be held at Faith Temple Church of God on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Wendell Smith will officiate the services
