Mildred Jernigan, 97, born July 13, 1928, in Avon Park, Florida to John Williams and Bessie Johnson Williams passed away on February 26, 2026, in Lake Wales, Florida. She worked in customer Service in the banking industry, and had been a resident of Hardee County for most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church at Bowling Green. Mildred is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Edward B. Jernigan, who passed in 1989, siblings James Williams, Richard Williams, and Rosella Wells. She loved reading, doing church activities, and gardening. She is survived by her son David E. Jernigan of Lake Wales, Florida, two grandchildren Daffney Smith and Lydia Jernigan, and four great-grandchildren, Devin Hill, Khloe Smith, Landon Smith, Brody Mendoza, Bentley Moore, Silas Moore, and Aliora Moore. A graveside service will be held at Hart Cemetery on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 3 PM. with Pastor Scott Waldron officiating.
