Patty L. Smith, 86, of Wauchula, died Monday, November 16, 2009 at her home. She was born August 25, 1923 in Oklahoma. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. She formerly worked for Odell Carlton at the Sheriff's Office and retired from the Clerk of the Courts office. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm C. Smith, a son, James D. Wimberley, a daughter, Carroll S. Parker, and a sister, Helen Bryan. Survivors include 2 sons, Dr. Malcolm Wilson Smith (Betty) of Georgia, and Phillip Lee Smith (Loretta) of Bowling Green; 1 daughter, Melissa Smith Stanford (Terry) of Lake Placid; 1 sister, Almeada (Smokie) Grimsley of Wauchula; 1 brother, Ed Arlington of Nebraska; 1 son-in-law, Jimmy Parker of Bowling Green; 2 daughters-in-law, Cindy Wimberley of Dundee and Mildred Smith of Wauchula; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Wauchula Cemetery with Rev. Brooke Larrison officiating.
