Richard R. Wiggins, 84, of Lakeland, passed away at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale on May 12, 2012. He was born in Scranton, Arkansas on February 10, 1928. Mr. Wiggins had been a resident of Wauchula from January 1967 (when he and his wife Marjorie came from Missouri) to April 2006, at which time they moved to Polk County. He was a member of Florida's First Assembly of God and had been employed as a grove and farming caretaker. His wife Marjorie preceded him in death in September 2008.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Jeff Stevens of Lakeland, and Regina Wiggins and Wayne Jernigan of Winter Haven; one brother, Bill Wiggins of Wauchula; two grandchildren, Niki Yeomans and Ashley Vancola and husband Garrison; one great-granddaughter, Abbie Vancola; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Florida's First Assembly of God, Wauchula. Funeral Services are at the church on Friday, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Fowler officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery.
