Rodney Wayne Wittkopp
January 21, 1948 – October 16, 2026
Loving husband, dad, and grandpa, Rodney “Rod” Wittkopp passed away on October
16, 2026, at the age of 78 years old.
Born January 21, 1948, in Muskegon, Michigan, Rod grew up the youngest of four boys,
graduating from Mona Shores High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam
earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He returned from Vietnam and married Sandra
“Sandy” Greenert. Rod was employed at Cannon Muskegon and New York Carpet
World and was a Chief of the Muskegon Vikings Linne Lodge. Rod and Sandy raised
their daughter, Jamie, in Muskegon and Fort Myers, Florida. They later retired in Zolfo
Springs, Florida where you may have seen Rod playing in a poker tournament.
Rod’s parents, Bernard and Alice (Paulson) and his brothers, Wallace “Wally”, Albin
“Bing, and Edwin “Eddie”, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Sandy of 55
years and daughter, Jamie, son-in-law Jeff, and beloved grandson Jackson Rahrig
along with his sisters-in-law, their spouses, and nieces and nephews.
Rod loved his country and believed in community. He often invited neighbors and those
who otherwise would have been alone over for a meal, even holidays like Thanksgiving.
For those wishing to help celebrate Rod’s life, the next time you see a Veteran, be sure
to buy them a meal.
