Shirley Stamey, 89, of Wauchula, passed away at Sunny Hills ALF in Sebring on September 21, 2012. She was born in Corbin, Kentucky on June 5, 1923 and had been a resident of Hardee County for 50 years. Shirley was a member of Lake Dale Baptist Church, and had been an office assistant for an eye doctor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard C. Stamey, parents, Enoch Alvin and Ruth Walters, son, Ernest Reed, daughter, Patty Reed; and her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Stamey is survived by four grandchildren, Keith Reed of Zolfo Springs, Jania New of Stanford, Kentucky, Janet Collett of Corbin, Kentucky, and Tina Miller of Panama City; nine great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 10-11 a.m. at Robarts Garden Chapel, with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Burial is in Wauchula Cemetery. Rev. Al Blum will officiate.
