Sonny B. Henegar, 69, of Wauchula, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010 in Tampa. Sonny was born in Egan, TN on Sept. 16, 1941 and came to Hardee Co. from TN in 1960. He was a member of Lake Dale Baptist Church and had been employed as a maintenance supervisor with the phosphate mines, and worked for Mancini Packing. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alma Henegar, and a grandson, Jesse Gerard. Survivors include his wife, Opal; 4 daughters, Mitzi Powell (Dennis) of Bowling Green, Teresa Boland of Tampa, Gayle Lemus of Baltimore, MD, and Amy Valento (John) of Marianna; 2 brothers, Bill Henegar of Bartow and Lonnie Henegar of Bowling Green; 2 sisters, Carolyn Gigelio of Ocala, and Helen Chapman (Arlis) of LaFolette, TN; and 4 grandchildren, Marina Boland, Charlie and Miranda Powell, and Rebecca Prillwitz. Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 16th from 10-11 a.m. at Lake Dale Baptist Church. Services are at 11 a.m. with Rev. Albert Blum officiating. Burial is in Lake Dale Cemetery.
