Sylvia Knight Campbell, 71, of Rome, New York, died December 26, 2010 at her winter residence in Lake Placid, Florida. She was born in Wauchula on December 25, 1939.
Sylvia was a homemaker, involved with United Way, and The Twigs at Rome Hospital, and a Baptist. She was the 1957 Miss Hardee High, a graduate of Hardee High School, a member of the glee club and a cheerleader. In the early 1960's she was pianist for the Wauchula Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lt. Col. Donald F. Campbell of Rome, NY; son, Dr. Michael Campbell of Barbados; brothers, Lamar Knight of Avon Park and Richard Knight of Babson Park; sister, Kristy Cox of Lakeland; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29th from 3-4 p.m. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Wauchula, with funeral services at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Ed Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in New York.
